Direct answer

2× Diamond → 1× Perfect Diamond in the Refiner, 3 seconds. There is no faster recipe and no byproduct. The expensive part is the Diamond itself: the sand route consumes 16,384 sand per Diamond (2¹⁴) and 65,536 copper in refining costs, so buying or stockpiling Diamonds beats grinding sand.

The sand maths

Refined sand has six levels, each needing half as many refiners as the previous one, and once you reach Fully Refined Sand you refine it eight more times to get a Diamond. The total is 2¹⁴ = 16,384 sand per Diamond, costing 65,536 copper in refining. A Perfect Diamond therefore represents two of those runs.

From level 7 you can buy Quartz Ore, which refines into a crude shard for 550 copper each — still more expensive than the sand route's 512 copper per shard, but it removes the land footprint. Neither route beats simply buying Diamonds when the shop has them.

What it is for

ProductDeviceRecipeTime
SapphireCauldron1× Perfect Diamond + 1× World Tree Core + 1× Unstable Catalyst38.2 s
SolArcane Shaper25× Perfect Diamond + 6 relics + 5× Eternal Catalyst + 5× World Tree Core300 s

One Sol eats 25 Perfect Diamonds — that is the real end-game demand, and the reason a Perfect Diamond line is worth automating rather than hand-crafting. Sapphire, in turn, is one third of the Philosopher's Stone.

Sell or keep

Perfect Diamond sells, and the search intent “sell perfect diamond” suggests many players dump it early. Keep the first 50: Sol needs 25 at once and the relic line is where the value is. Sell surplus only after the Sol is built.
