Direct answer

Blueprints are shareable factory layouts via Steam Workshop: subscribe in the Workshop, then place the blueprint in your factory. 1.0 added folder navigation inside the blueprint UI, and hotfix 1.0.4940 fixed creating a new blueprint after editing an existing one.

How to use blueprints

  1. Open the Steam Workshop page for Alchemy Factory and subscribe to layouts (see the store Workshop area).
  2. Launch the game and open the blueprint UI — 1.0 added folder navigation.
  3. Place the blueprint where it fits; belts and devices snap into layout.
  4. Edit or replace the design, then save it as a new blueprint.

Blueprints in 1.0

  • Folder navigation — official 1.0 addition.
  • New-from-edit bug — fixed in hotfix 1.0.4940: “a new Blueprint could not be created after editing an existing Blueprint.”
  • Missing building panel — 1.0.4917 fixed “the building panel would remain visible when building an item.”

Finding good layouts

Community favourites change weekly and recipes moved at 1.0 — when picking a blueprint, prefer ones labelled for the current version or recent patches. Beginner-friendly and complex production plans both exist, per the official store description.

Sharing your own

Upload from the blueprint UI and write a short title including the version (e.g. “1.0 starter”). Good names beat tags: players search layout, floor, and item names.

Evidence boundary

Workshop support, folder navigation and hotfix fixes: OFFICIAL. In-game blueprint menu placement: PENDING.
